The "snowbird" season begins about October every year. A migration begins of approximately 30,000 "seasonal visitors" arriving to the Gold Canyon and Apache Junction Arizona, as well as some surrounding areas. As predictable as a migrating duck, (and called "snow birds" with affection) these people arrive and enjoy all the beauty of the Superstition Mountains, the wonderful warm weather and seasonal activities. The local merchants enjoy a burst of additional business. Some businesses notice a particular spike in activities. Local restaurant owners report that "snowbirds love to go out for breakfast". Many of these "snowbirds" have homes in the local area, but in the hot summer months they migrate back to their northern homes, returning to their Arizona home in the fall and staying through spring to enjoy the weather, while the folks back home are shoveling snow and braving the cold. If you are thinking you might like to have someplace to "get away to" from the snow, hail and cold in your local area, consider Arizona and the Gold Canyon area. People love it here.
